Cheers to National Beer Day, April 7th
National Beer Day is an opportunity to support your favorite Oregon breweries
PORTLAND, Oregon — Tomorrow, April 7, is National Beer Day – a time to celebrate Oregon’s beer prowess and America’s rich beer history.
“It’s been a challenging few years for Oregon’s breweries. It’s time to turn the page and celebrate Oregon beer,” said Lisa Allen, President of the Oregon Brewers Guild and co-owner of Heater Allen Brewing and Gold Dot Beer. “Beer is still an essential part of Oregon’s history, identity and economy. National Beer Day is the perfect excuse to visit your favorite brewery or taproom and support this vital industry that has helped put our state on the map.”
National Beer Day marks the beginning of the end of the failed experiment, Prohibition. While Repeal Day is Dec. 5, National Beer Day is April 7, because President Franklin D. Roosevelt campaigned on bringing back beer to the American people even sooner than other adult beverages.
According to Beer Serves America data, Oregon is home to more than 300 breweries, brewpubs and taprooms generating more than $8.9 billion in economic output, $2.8 billion in wages, creating 46,700 jobs in the state. It’s so important to the local economy, Oregon is the fifth most beer-job reliant state, accounting for 1 out of every 633 jobs in Oregon.
