Whether displayed as a centerpiece in a collection or savored neat to appreciate its powerful oak influence, this bourbon delivers a memorable and distinguished drinking experience.

THIS OLD CHARTER OAK® STORY

In 1874, Adam and Ben Chapeze created the now-famous Old Charter whiskey brand. Named in honor of arguably the most well‑known white oak tree in America, Old Charter Oak symbolizes the pivotal role that oak barrels play in the making of great American whiskey. Old Charter Oak reveals the hidden flavors in a wide array of oaks as they influence the distinctive collection of bourbon whiskeys.

Aged at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, this Bourbon gains its unique character from being aged in century-old barrels from Canton Cooperage. From the beginning, each log was examined for the qualities that marked it as something special. When log showed signs of age and character, it was set aside for a closer look; its rings offering a glimpse into the decades it had grown. Through this careful process, logs were identified that reached the 200 Year mark and were set aside for dedicated handling. These logs were air‑dried for about a year, finished in the kilns, and then crafted into barrels at the cooperage. Each step, from intake to final barrel, ensuring their unique story was carried through the entire process. Enjoy this bourbon that honors Century Oak, and raise a glass to its storied journey from forest, to barrel, to bourbon.

About Buffalo Trace:

Honor Tradition, Embrace Change
Throughout the challenges of floods, fires, tornadoes and even Prohibition, the American family-owned Buffalo Trace Distillery has never compromised.
A timeless dedication to respecting the past while fearlessly innovating for the future has served us well for more than two centuries. No matter the challenge, be it Mother Nature or man, the people of our Distillery have been part of the story that shaped America and the spirit industry as well.

Buffalo Trace refers primarily to an iconic, award-winning Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, known for its rich history, traditional crafting, and popular status, named after ancient bison trails used by pioneers that crossed the distillery’s site. The name also honors the distillery itself, a historic, American-owned producer of fine spirits, which has been operating for over 200 years in Frankfort, Kentucky, making it the oldest continuously operating distillery in America.

About the Whiskey
Type: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Ingredients: Made from corn, rye, and malted barley.
Aging: Aged for years in new, charred oak barrels.
Flavor Profile: Complex aroma of vanilla, mint, molasses, with sweet notes of brown sugar, spice, oak, toffee, dark fruit, and anise.
Awards: Consistently ranks as one of the world’s most awarded distilleries, with numerous “Distillery of the Year” titles.

About the Distillery
History: Operating for over two centuries, it’s the oldest continuously running distillery in the U.S., even making whiskey for medicinal purposes during Prohibition.
Location: Sits on the site where buffalo migration paths crossed the Kentucky River.
Legacy: Home to legendary distillers and known for its dedication to heritage and innovation, producing sought-after bourbons.
The Name’s Origin
The “trace” was a wide, well-worn path created by bison migrating to salt licks, used by early Native Americans and then by explorers and settlers for westward expansion, providing a relatively smooth route.
