Beers Made By Walking Announces 2015 Hikes with Breweries in Seattle

Beers Made By Walking, the program that invites brewers go on nature hikes and make beer inspired by plants found on the trail, partners with Mountains to Sound Greenway for a series of public hikes with brewers. Four hikes with eleven brewers take place this summer along the Mountains to Sound Greenway corridor, beginning with the first on June 13. Hikers are accompanied by local brewers and hikes are free, but space is limited.
Brewers attending hikes are challenged to create a unique, place-based beer that serves as a drinkable, landscape portrait of the trails that are walked. The resulting beers will be served at a special event in the Fall, in Seattle, and proceeds from the beer will benefit Mountains to Sound Greenway.
The first hike is on June 13 with Naked City Brewery and Ghostfish Brewing Company at Seward Park. Registration is now open. Registration for the next three hikes begins two weeks from the hike date. The remaining hikes are on June 27 with Brickyard Brewing, Hi-Fi Brewing, Stoup Brewing and Tin Dog Brewing, August 9 with Fremont Brewing and Machine House Brewery, and August 15 Two Beers Brewing, Seattle Cider Company and Lantern Brewing. Hikes take place along the Mountains to Sound Greenway between Seattle and Snoqualmie Pass.
Hikes are free, but registration is required. Registration will open approximately two weeks before each hike.

Denver, CO June 2015- Beers Made By Walking (BMBW), the program that invites brewers to create place-based beers inspired by plants found on nature trails, announces that their BMBW Denver Festival will take place on Wednesday, September 23. The event is during Great American Beer Festival at the outside space of Our Mutual Friend Brewing Company from 4:30-8pm.
This year’s program will include more than 20 Colorado breweries and numerous breweries beyond Colorado. Almost every brewery will create beer inspired by native plants identified along trails across the country while others will bring specialty place-based beers that they already produce, utilizing local flora. Here is the current list of participating breweries:

A portion of the Beers Made By Walking Denver Festival proceeds will benefit the Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership. The Greenway is a 14-mile public greenway that connects over 100 miles of urban trails in the Denver metro area and links the neighborhoods of northwest Aurora, northeast Denver, and southern Commerce City. A number of the breweries participating in Beers Made By Walking have created beer inspired by this trail.

to Announce Summer 2015 Hikes with Breweries in Bellingham
Beers Made By Walking, a program that invites brewers go on nature hikes and craft a unique beer inspired by the flora seen on the trail, is partnering with Whatcom Land Trust in summer 2015 for a series of public hikes with brewers and community members. For its inaugural season in Bellingham, a series of three hikes accompanied by Bellingham brewers will take place in July and August across Whatcom County. All of the hikes are free, but registration is required as space is limited.
Brewers attending the hikes are challenged to create a unique, place-based beer that serves as a drinkable, landscape portrait of the trails that are walked. The resulting beers will be served at a special tapping event in the fall in Bellingham, and proceeds from the beer sales will benefit Whatcom Land Trust.
The first hike is Saturday, July 11, at Canyon Lake Community Forest with Stones Throw Brewing. Registration for all three hikes begins two weeks from the hike date. The other hikes are Saturday, July 25, on the South Fork of the Nooksack River at Edfro Creek with Aslan Brewing, andSaturday, August 1, at Stimpson Family Nature Reserve with Boundary Bay Brewery. All of the hikes will take place on WLT-protected lands in Whatcom County.
All of the hikes are free, but registration is required. Online registration through Eventbrite will open approximately two weeks before each hike.

Description: Join the first hike for Beers Made By Walking in Bellingham at Canyon Lake Community Forest. Join Bellingham brewers from Stones Throw Brewing as we explore this old-growth forest on a hike led by naturalists and Whatcom Land Trust. Canyon Lake Community Forest’s 2,250 acres includes 700 acres of ancient Alaskan yellow cedar, some of which are 1,000 years old. Since access to the site has been restricted over the past few years due to road wash out, Whatcom Land Trust and Beers Made By Walking are excited to offer this unique opportunity to explore this remote site!
Saturday, July 25, 12pm: Edfro Creek – Registration Open Soon
Brewery: Aslan Brewing
Description: Come take a hike along the South Fork of the Nooksack River at Edfro Creek with Bellingham brewers from Aslan Brewing. The hike will be led by naturalists and Whatcom Land Trust. The beautiful South Fork Valley is an important focus area for Whatcom Land Trust, where the mission is balancing protection of fish and wildlife habitat with farmland conservation.
Saturday, August 1, 12pm: Stimpson Family Nature Reserve – Registration Open Soon
Brewery: Boundary Bay Brewery
Description: Come take a walk at Stimpson Family Nature Reserve with Bellingham brewers from Boundary Bay Brewery. The hike will be led by naturalists and Whatcom Land Trust. Walkers will explore the Lake Whatcom watershed, which provides drinking water for Bellingham. A well-maintained trail through the forest near Lake Whatcom wanders through quiet forests and offers beautiful views of two ponds on site.
