Co-op to Co-op: a Mezcal Story

As I am sure you know, (because we talk about it all the time) we are extremely proud to be produced in a Co-op that prioritizes sustainability, equity and preservation of tradition.

So when the opportunity arose for us to visit our like-minded friends at the U.P.A.D.E.C. Co-operative in Ejutla, Oaxaca, we stuffed our suitcase with cans and hopped on a plane to Mexico.

Much like our outfit across the ocean in Bretagne, U.P.A.D.E.C. is owned and operated by the farmers that make it all possible. A close knit group of over 50 families, located throughout the hills and arid valleys of Ejutla come together to grow, harvest, distill and package every bottle of their mezcal.

The chance to share and learn with these mezcaleros over a few cold ciders and some neat pours of mezcal was truly magical, though thousands of miles separate our facilities, our shared commitment to the people behind the product bring us together.
