Russian River Pliny the Younger 2024 Release Update

We are just a few days from our 20th Annual Pliny the Younger Release at our Santa Rosa and Windsor pubs! If you asked us 20 years ago if we would still be brewing Younger in 2024, we would likely have laughed at the idea. But here we are, busy putting the final touches on our in-person release which starts this Friday, March 22nd, and continues for 14 days through April 4th, 2024. And, naturally, the forecast for Friday is rain. Hopefully we get the obligatory wet weather out of the way early and a enjoy a beautiful Sonoma County Spring thereafter. It really would not be a proper Younger release without at least a little rain!   zzubreebym

Pliny the Younger is a Triple IPA weighing in at 10.25% ABV. This year’s Younger is triple dry-hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, Elixir, Warrior, and Nectaron. The main change to the 2024 recipe is the addition of more Nectaron. We liked what it added to last year’s recipe so much that we upped the amount of this very aromatic New Zealand hop. Over 7 pounds of hops per barrel (31 gallons) were added in the kettle and dry-hopping combined, which does not include any hop extracts. Younger exhibits strong resinous, pine, tropical, stone fruit, and citrus aromas. Specifically, notes of mango, orange, and nectarine stood out to our sensory panel. It is remarkably balanced with bitterness and malt with a medium body and slightly warming finish. We hope you enjoy tasting this year’s Younger as much as we enjoyed brewing it!

There is so much to celebrate this year with it being our 20th Pliny the Younger release and the 20th Anniversary of our Santa Rosa pub, which officially falls on April 3rd. As you may have already seen, we have a newly designed logo depicting the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius spewing beer, hops and bottles into the air over the Windsor brewery. This special anniversary design was created by Jason Roberson and will be featured on 2024 Younger gear as well as on the bottles.

Speaking of bottles, we have been keeping a secret for several months and it is time to spill the beans. In celebration of our 20th year, we are releasing a commemorative gift pack which includes not 1, not 2, but 3 bottles of Pliny the Younger! Each guest of legal drinking age may purchase up to 3 bottles which come prepacked in a custom-made reusable cardboard carrier. In addition to the cool box, you will also have a little more Younger to savor and share when you get home!
