Dogfish Head Teams Up With Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer, Joan Jett, To Debut Limited-Edition Beer
Dogfish Head Joan Jett beer collaboration
I brought you an early peek at this beer back in Aug, 2026, and now this update. Dogfish Head is turning up the volume on its latest craft beer release, teaming up with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett for a limited-edition beer that celebrates two of rock music’s most recognizable albums. The new Dogfish Head Jett Black Lager arrives as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts celebrate the 45th anniversaries of Bad Reputation and I Love Rock ‘n Roll, bringing together a Delaware craft brewery with a long history of music collaborations and an artist who has spent decades doing things her own way.
This one’s different. Dogfish Head Joan Jett Jett Black Lager isn’t another oversized imperial stout or aggressively hopped IPA dressed up in rock-and-roll packaging. Instead, Dogfish Head Joan Jett have created a dark-colored, easy-drinking lager brewed with barley malt, flaked maize and flaked rice, delivering aromas of honey, herbs and black pepper with smooth notes of sweet breadcrust and light toast. A Dogfish Head Joan Jett jet-black beer with the refreshing character of a light lager. And a little attitude.
The limited-edition Dogfish Head Joan Jett beer will first become available nationwide on October 27, 2026, through Give Them Beer, offered in a $45 commemorative beer and merchandise kit that includes four 12-ounce cans of Jett Black Lager, collectible merchandise and special collaboration packaging. With additional online releases scheduled for November 3 and November 10, followed by availability at Dogfish Head’s coastal Delaware locations beginning November 11, the brewery is giving craft beer drinkers and Joan Jett fans several opportunities to grab this unusual collaboration before supplies disappear.
The following official announcement from Dogfish Head provides the complete details on Jett Black Lager, the Joan Jett collaboration, the limited-edition Dogfish Head Joan Jett merchandise collection and the upcoming nationwide release.
Duo celebrates 45th anniversaries of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ landmark albums with exclusive beer and merchandise collaboration
MILTON, Delaware., Oct. 19, 2026 — A brewery with a music problem, Dogfish Head debuts a new, limited-edition beer in collaboration with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Joan Jett, to celebrate the 45th anniversaries of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ landmark albums, ‘Bad Reputation’ and ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll.’ Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m. PST / 12 p.m. EST, the duo’s collaborative brew, Jett Black Lager, will be available nationwide via Give Them Beer as part of a special beer and merchandise kit. While supplies last, Jett Black Lager kits will be priced at $45 each, inclusive of shipping. Purchase allowance is limited to one kit per person.
Like the music of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Jett Black Lager is approachable and timeless, while maintaining an off-centered, “don’t give a damn,” attitude. Brewed with barley malt, flaked maize and flaked rice, this crushable lager strikes a power chord with aromas of honey, herbs and black pepper, alongside smooth flavors of sweet breadcrust and light toast. Simply put … it’s a jet-black-colored brew (get it?) that’s as easy-drinking, crisp and clean-finishing as your favorite light beer.
“This collaboration is truly a full-circle moment for me. Joan Jett was my first-ever concert, and you know what they say, ‘you never forget your first,’” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Brewer & Founder. “Watching Joan on stage cemented my love of rock ‘n’ roll music. She showed me, and so many other folks, that truly original music is all about creative expression, rebellion and challenging the status quo, all things we at Dogfish Head pride ourselves on when brewing beer.”
Each Dogfish head Joan Jett Jett Black Lager beer and merchandise kit includes a 4pk/12oz cans of Jett Black Lager alongside a co-branded pin pack, a studded pleather can cooler, and a heart-shaped guitar pick bottle opener, all packaged in a commemorative, co-branded box. Folks that miss the first drop of Jett Black Lager beer and merchandise kits on Tuesday, Oct. 27, will have two more chances to snag one of these limited-edition bundles, with restocks slated for Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 9 a.m. PST / 12 p.m. EST.
Want to enjoy a multi-sensory experience? Ordering a Jett Black Lager beer and merchandise kit by Tuesday, Nov. 10, allows ample time for it to arrive ahead of Record Store Day’s RSD Black Friday celebration. On Friday, Nov. 27, music-lovers are encouraged to visit their local, independently owned record stores to scoop up a myriad of new vinyl record releases, including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ 45th anniversary album, ‘I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll: The Shadow Album.’ To find a local, independently owned record store, check out Record Store Day’s store finder.
“I’ve always believed in doing things your own way, and Dogfish Head has that same spirit,” said Jett. “Looking forward to raising a glass of Jett Black Lager to 45 years of ‘I Love Rock ’N Roll’ and ‘Bad Reputation.’”
Additional 4pk/12oz cans of Dogfish Head Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ Jett Black Lager will be available at the brewery’s coastal Delaware locations beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11, as will limited quantities of the duo’s collaborative merchandise.

ABOUT DOGFISH HEAD:
With quality, creativity and non-conformity at its core, Dogfish Head has been committed to brewing unique beers with high-caliber culinary ingredients outside the Reinheitsgebot since the day it opened more than 31 years ago. Dedicated to exploring goodness of all kinds, Dogfish Head later expanded its beverage artistry beyond just craft beer to produce award-winning portfolios of full-proof spirits – whiskeys, gins, vodkas, rums and more – and spirits-based, ready-to-drink canned cocktails.
A Boston Beer Company brand and proud supporter of the Independent Craft Brewing Seal, Dogfish Head is a Delaware-based entity consisting of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, a production brewery and tasting room; Dogfish Head Distilling Co., a production distillery; Brewings & Eats, a brewpub and live music venue; Chesapeake & Maine, a seafood and cocktail spot; and the Dogfish INN, a beer-themed, canal-front hotel. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is one of America’s most recognizable craft beer producers, known for its unconventional brewing methods, culinary-inspired ingredients and willingness to create beers that don’t necessarily fit traditional brewing categories. Founded by Sam Calagione in 1995, Dogfish Head began as Delaware’s first brewpub, opening Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach. More than three decades later, the brewery continues to produce an extensive collection of craft beers, specialty releases, collaborative beverages and experimental recipes from its Delaware brewing operations.
From the beginning, Dogfish Head built its reputation around making beers that challenged conventional expectations. Rather than limiting its brewing philosophy to traditional ingredients and established beer styles, Dogfish Head embraced fruits, herbs, spices, unusual grains and other culinary additions. That experimental approach helped distinguish Dogfish Head from competing American craft breweries and eventually became central to its off-centered identity.
Among the brewery’s best-known releases are Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and 90 Minute Imperial IPA, two beers that helped establish its reputation for continuously hopped India Pale Ales. The brewery has since expanded its portfolio to include lighter drinking options, specialty ales, seasonal beers and distinctive collaborations that appeal to different segments of the craft beer market.
Music has also played an important role in the Dogfish Head story. Long before its latest collaboration with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Dogfish Head was connecting craft beer with musicians, live performances and collectible releases. The brewery has worked with artists and musical groups including the Grateful Dead, The Flaming Lips, Deltron 3030 and the Miles Davis estate, producing projects that combine original brewing concepts with established musical identities.
Its relationship with the Grateful Dead remains one of its most recognizable collaborations. Releases such as American Beauty, Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale and Grateful Dead Citrus Daydream Lager demonstrate how Dogfish Head uses music-inspired partnerships to develop distinctive craft beer recipes rather than simply placing familiar artwork on existing products.
The 2026 introduction of Dogfish Head Jett Black Lager continues that tradition. Created in collaboration with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett, the limited-edition dark lager celebrates the 45th anniversaries of Bad Reputation and I Love Rock ‘n Roll. Its combination of barley malt, flaked maize and flaked rice produces a dark-colored beer with an approachable, refreshing drinking profile. The release also includes collectible merchandise, giving music enthusiasts another reason to explore the Dogfish Head craft beer portfolio.
Beyond brewing, Dogfish Head has developed a broader hospitality and beverage business throughout coastal Delaware. Its operations include Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and its Milton tasting room, Dogfish Head Distilling Co., Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Chesapeake & Maine and the Dogfish INN. Together, these destinations connect craft beer, spirits, food, live entertainment and Delaware tourism.
Dogfish Head Distilling Co. extends the company’s experimental philosophy into whiskey, gin, vodka, rum and ready-to-drink canned cocktails. These products complement the brewery’s established beer offerings while allowing Dogfish Head to explore additional ingredients, beverage styles and production techniques.
Dogfish Head is also part of The Boston Beer Company, bringing its distinctive brewing identity into a larger American beverage organization while continuing to develop specialty beers and collaborative releases.
With its long history of original craft beer, unusual ingredients and music-inspired partnerships, Dogfish Head remains an established name in American brewing. Releases such as Jett Black Lager show how the Delaware brewery continues connecting its creative brewing philosophy with the musicians and cultural influences that have shaped its identity since 1995.

ABOUT JOAN JETT:
Joan Jett’s influence can be felt well beyond her storied music career. She is an icon in the truest sense, leaving her mark on fashion, style and cultural touchstones. She came up in a time when rock ’n’ roll wasn’t built for girls — so she kicked the door down in 1975 with her first band, The Runaways. It was the first of many iconoclastic moments in her life, including starting her own independent record label, Blackheart Records, after she was rejected by no less than 23 labels.
She formed Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, earned a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and racked up 8 platinum and gold albums with 9 Top 40 singles, including “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ’N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.”
Jett remains a fearless icon and inspiration. With the 45th anniversaries of her seminal albums Bad Reputation and I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll, she is poised to influence a new generation. For more information, visit: www.joanjett.com.
