Sierra Nevada Radio Tower Double IPA Coming Soon
Sierra Nevada Brewing Radio Tower New Double IPA Unveiled
This morning, I have another exciting new IPA coming soon from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., with the brewery preparing to introduce Sierra Nevada Radio Tower, a new American Double IPA arriving in a 16-ounce can. Brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina, Sierra Nevada Radio Tower will come in at a substantial 8.5% ABV, putting this new release firmly into the American Double IPA category.
From SIerra Nevada: Radio Tower DIPA is the next installment in our Hidden Scroll series, a reference to the label art that showcases a somewhat hidden Sierra Nevada scroll logo. All beers in the series come in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans. This initial offering of Radio Tower DIPA will only be available via our online store to ship direct to consumer in select states, and at our physical gift shops in CA and NC. As for the liquid, it’s brewed to a classic American-Style Double IPA—clear, tropical aroma, resinous, aggressively hopped yet balanced.
The Sierra Nevada Radio Tower label immediately stands out with a striking blue illustration centered around a towering radio transmission structure. Orange lightning bolts radiate across the sky, creating a dramatic visual that fits the beer’s name and gives the package a distinctly retro-inspired broadcast theme. The front of the label identifies the beer as Sierra nevada Radio Tower American Double IPA 8.5% ABV, while the package also carries Sierra Nevada’s familiar “Finest Quality” and “Purest Ingredients” messaging.
For Sierra Nevada IPA fans, the most important detail is the style. Sierra Nevada Radio Tower is identified specifically as an American Double IPA, a category historically associated with higher alcohol content, assertive hop character, substantial flavor and a bigger overall beer experience than a standard IPA. At 8.5% ABV, Radio Tower has the strength expected from a modern double IPA while adding another new name to Sierra Nevada’s extensive lineup of hop-forward beers.
The new beer also continues Sierra Nevada’s long-running relationship with the IPA category. The brewery is widely recognized for beers such as Pale Ale and Torpedo Extra IPA, while its more recent releases have expanded into hazy IPAs, specialty IPAs, limited releases and experimental brewing projects. My Beer Buzz recently reported on Sierra Nevada’s Dual Torpedo Double IPA, which was listed at 8.2% ABV, as well as Mosaic Little Thing Hazy IPA, a 7.5% ABV addition to the brewery’s Little Thing family.
Radio Tower arrives as another example of Sierra Nevada continuing to explore the IPA category while maintaining the brewery’s recognizable identity. The label itself reinforces that connection, combining a bold illustration with straightforward beer information and the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. name.
The packaging shown here is a 16-fluid-ounce can, giving beer fans a new package format to look for when Sierra Nevada Radio Tower begins appearing in stores and other distribution channels. The label lists Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in both Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina, reflecting the brewery’s two-coast brewing operation.
At this point, additional information about the release, including the official launch timing, distribution footprint and tasting notes, has not been announced in the information accompanying this first look. That means there is still plenty to learn about Radio Tower, particularly the hop varieties, bitterness, aroma, flavor profile and availability.
For now, Sierra Nevada fans can add Radio Tower American Double IPA to the list of upcoming beers to watch. An 8.5% ABV American Double IPA in a new 16-ounce can is certainly a release worth keeping an eye out for, especially for drinkers who enjoy bold, hop-forward Sierra Nevada beers.
Stay tuned to My Beer Buzz for more information as Sierra Nevada Radio Tower moves closer to release, including availability updates and tasting notes.

About Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is one of the most recognizable names in American craft brewing, with breweries in Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina. Founded in 1980 by Ken Grossman, the brewery grew from a small California brewing operation into a nationally recognized craft beer producer while maintaining its family-owned identity. Sierra Nevada’s history is deeply connected to American craft beer and to the development of hop-forward brewing in the United States.
The brewery’s story began with Ken Grossman’s interest in homebrewing and brewing equipment. After opening a homebrew shop in Chico, Grossman eventually began assembling the equipment needed to build his own brewhouse. Sierra Nevada’s first commercial brewing efforts eventually led to the development of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, a beer that became one of the defining American craft ales and helped establish the brewery’s reputation for using quality ingredients and distinctive hop character.
Sierra Nevada subsequently became particularly famous for its IPA portfolio. Pale Ale, Torpedo Extra IPA, Hazy Little Thing, Juicy Little Thing, Sunny Little Thing and numerous seasonal, specialty and limited-release beers have helped create a broad lineup that reaches well beyond a single brewing style. The brewery continues to experiment with traditional ales, West Coast IPAs, hazy IPAs, double IPAs, pilsners, non-alcoholic beers and other specialty releases.
That spirit of experimentation can be seen in the brewery’s recent activity. My Beer Buzz has covered Sierra Nevada’s Mosaic Little Thing, a 7.5% ABV hazy IPA built around Mosaic hops, along with Mango Little Thing, which brings mango character to the Little Thing family. The brewery has also continued developing its Torpedo lineup, including the previously announced Dual Torpedo Double IPA and Rye Torpedo IPA.
Sierra Nevada’s brewing operation also extends into innovative products outside traditional IPA releases. Its Trail Pass non-alcoholic lineup has expanded with beers including Trail Pass Dark & Smooth and Trail Pass Fest Brew, demonstrating the brewery’s willingness to explore changing consumer preferences while maintaining a craft-brewing approach. My Beer Buzz recently reported on updated Trail Pass Dark & Smooth packaging, which lists both the Chico and Mills River brewing locations.
Sustainability is another significant part of the Sierra Nevada story. The brewery has emphasized environmental responsibility, alternative energy, sustainable ingredient sourcing and regenerative agriculture. Its two-brewery footprint allows Sierra Nevada to produce and distribute beer from both the West Coast and East Coast while continuing to operate under the same recognizable brewing identity.
The brewery’s commitment to innovation is also evident through its specialty and limited-release programs. Sierra Nevada’s Friends of the Family beer club features small-batch and rare beers, including barrel-aged and experimental releases, giving the brewery another avenue for exploring beers that extend beyond its year-round portfolio.
Today, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. remains closely associated with American craft beer, hop-forward brewing and innovation. From the iconic Pale Ale and Torpedo Extra IPA to modern hazy IPAs, double IPAs, specialty beers and non-alcoholic offerings, the brewery continues to develop new products for longtime fans and new craft beer drinkers.
Radio Tower fits naturally into that continuing story. Its designation as an 8.5% American Double IPA places it squarely among Sierra Nevada’s bigger hop-forward beers, while its distinctive radio-tower artwork gives the new release a memorable identity. As Radio Tower moves toward release, it will add another chapter to Sierra Nevada’s long history of American IPA brewing.
