Appalachian Mountain Brewery Reveals 2 Amazing New Stouts
Appalachian Mountain Brewery High Falutin & S’more Lovin Stout:
This morning brings two new stouts from Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone, North Carolina, and both releases are aimed squarely at fans of big, rich, and specialty-driven dark beer. The new Appalachian Mountain Brewery High Falutin and S’More Lovin stouts take very different approaches to the imperial stout category, with one spending time in bourbon barrels and the other embracing the flavors of a classic campfire dessert.
Appalachian Mountain Brewery High Falutin is a big 11% ABV Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout described by Appalachian Mountain Brewery as a robust beer aged methodically in bourbon barrels. The label highlights notes of vanilla, roasted character, fig and oak, creating a combination that should appeal to fans of barrel-aged imperial stouts and complex dark beers. The bourbon barrel treatment adds another layer to an already substantial stout, while fig and oak give the beer a distinctly rich and warming profile.
The second new Appalachian Mountain Brewery stout is S’More Lovin, a 9.5% ABV imperial s’mores stout aged on cocoa nibs and vanilla beans. As the name suggests, this release takes inspiration from the familiar combination of chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker associated with s’mores. The label artwork reinforces that theme with marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers surrounding the beer’s branding.
Both new Appalachian Mountain Brewery stouts are packaged in 500ml bottles, equivalent to 16.9 fluid ounces. That bottle format gives these two specialty stouts a traditional presentation that fits the richer, higher-ABV beers particularly well.

About Appalachian Mountain Brewery:
Appalachian Mountain Brewery: Boone, North Carolina Craft Beer
Appalachian Mountain Brewery (AMB) is a North Carolina craft brewery rooted in the mountains of the High Country and known for combining innovative craft beer with community involvement, sustainability and philanthropy. The brewery’s history in Boone dates to 2011, when Asheville natives and cousins Nathan Kelischek and Chris Zieber founded the company. AMB’s original taproom opened in 2013, establishing the brewery as the first continuously operating brewery in Boone, North Carolina.
From the beginning, Appalachian Mountain Brewery has connected its beer with the Appalachian landscape and the outdoor culture of North Carolina. The brewery describes its approach as Appalachian-inspired beer and cider with a Southern twist, a philosophy that can be seen across its portfolio.
Over the years, AMB has developed a broad selection of craft beers and ciders, including well-known beers such as Boone Creek Blonde Ale, Long Leaf IPA, Down South Lager, Hop Rain Drop IPA and Porter. The brewery has also earned recognition at major beer competitions. AMB’s Boone Creek Blonde Ale and Down South Lager received medals at the 2023 World Beer Cup, while earlier competitions brought recognition to its Blonde Ale and Porter.
The brewery’s Porter is particularly relevant to the arrival of High Falutin and S’More Lovin because Appalachian Mountain Brewery has a history of producing darker, malt-forward beers. AMB’s award-winning Porter was described as having dark aromas, a creamy tan head and a balance of chocolate and coffee malt character.
AMB’s story has also evolved considerably. The original founders purchased Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Cidery back from Anheuser-Busch, returning the company to its founding ownership. Today, AMB operates locations in Boone, Mills River and Old Fort, while continuing to emphasize its North Carolina roots.
In 2026, Appalachian Mountain Brewery announced a production partnership with Hi-Wire Brewing, allowing AMB to maintain local production capabilities while continuing its focus on small-batch brewing in Boone. Widely distributed AMB beers, including Long Leaf IPA, Boone Creek Blonde and Honeydew Honeysuckle Wheat, are produced through the partnership in Asheville, while AMB continues its Boone operations.
Community involvement remains another defining part of Appalachian Mountain Brewery. AMB says it focuses on community, philanthropy and sustainability, with a portion of proceeds from every case sold supporting its charitable efforts through the We Can So You Can Foundation.
That combination of Appalachian identity, craft brewing experience and willingness to experiment makes the arrival of High Falutin Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout and S’More Lovin imperial s’mores stout particularly interesting. With 11% and 9.5% ABV respectively, bourbon barrel aging, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, fig and oak, these two new Appalachian Mountain Brewery stouts add another dark and distinctive chapter to the Boone brewery’s growing beer lineup.
