Boulevard Brewing BLVD Light Gets New Look and New Name

This morning I bring you some new packaging and a new name for a returning light beer from Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. This is Boulevard Brewing BLVD Light, and based on the newly revealed packaging, it appears to be a refreshed name and presentation for the beer previously known as Boulevard Light.

The new Boulevard Bewing BLVD Light packaging immediately stands out with a bold blue-and-yellow design built around the familiar Boulevard branding. The large BLVD logo dominates the front of the 12-ounce can, while the bright yellow sunburst and classic script give this returning light beer a distinctly recognizable appearance.

While the packaging has changed, the beer’s basic light-lager profile remains focused on easy drinking and sessionability. Boulevard Brewing BLVD Light clocks in at just 4.0% ABV, making it an approachable option for beer drinkers looking for a lower-alcohol beer that can be enjoyed without the heavier alcohol level associated with many craft beer styles.

The nutritional information is another major selling point. According to the new label, Boulevard BLVD Light contains 89 calories and 5 grams of carbohydrates per 12-ounce serving. That puts this beer squarely into the growing category of flavorful, calorie-conscious light beers that offer drinkers a traditional beer experience with a lighter nutritional profile.

The label also carries the slogan “Really Good Light Beer,” which pretty much tells you exactly where Boulevard is positioning this release. Rather than presenting BLVD Light as an experimental craft beer, the new packaging emphasizes straightforward refreshment, accessibility and everyday drinkability.

The new 12-ounce cans also give Boulevard Brewing BLVD Light a clean and modern package that should fit easily into refrigerators, coolers and backyard gatherings. The redesigned branding gives the beer a stronger visual identity while retaining the unmistakable Boulevard name.

Boulevard Light has already been part of the brewery’s lineup, with previous packaging offered in both cans and bottles. MyBeerBuzz reported that the beer remained at 4% ABV and 89 calories, while earlier packaging listed 3.1 grams of carbohydrates per 12-ounce serving. The newly revealed label now lists 5 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of protein, making this latest packaging an important update for anyone following the beer’s nutritional specifications.

For fans of Boulevard Brewing Company, light beer and sessionable craft beer, BLVD Light is definitely worth watching. The combination of a recognizable brand, 4% ABV, 89 calories, 5 grams of carbohydrates and a completely refreshed package gives this returning beer a strong new identity.

Stay tuned to MyBeerBuzz.com for additional information, release timing and availability for Boulevard Brewing BLVD Light.

Boulevard Brewing Company is one of the most important names in American craft beer and a defining brewery of Kansas City, Missouri. Founded in 1989 by John McDonald, Boulevard began with a mission to bring distinctive, flavorful beer to Kansas City while combining traditional brewing techniques with modern American craft brewing. Today, Boulevard has grown into the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest, with a diverse portfolio that reaches well beyond its Kansas City roots.

Boulevard’s story began after McDonald developed an interest in European brewing traditions during a trip to France. After returning home, he began experimenting with homebrewing before transforming that passion into a commercial brewery. Boulevard’s first keg of beer was delivered in November 1989, beginning a remarkable growth story that would eventually make the brewery one of the best-known craft beer producers in the United States.

Early Boulevard beers including Boulevard Pale Ale and Unfiltered Wheat Beer helped establish the brewery throughout Kansas City and the Midwest. As the brewery expanded, Boulevard developed increasingly ambitious beers, including its acclaimed Smokestack Series and the highly regarded Tank 7 Farmhouse Saison. That willingness to produce everything from approachable everyday beers to complex specialty releases remains an important part of Boulevard’s identity.

Today, the Boulevard Brewing beer lineup includes pale ales, wheat beers, IPAs, saisons, barrel-aged beers, specialty releases, seasonal beers and lighter offerings such as Boulevard Light. The brewery has also expanded into other beverage categories, including hard seltzers and craft cocktails through brands such as Quirk and Fling.

The Space Camper IPA series has become one of Boulevard’s most recognizable modern beer brands, offering hop-forward releases with imaginative packaging and names. Boulevard continues to expand that family, including the recently announced Space Camper The Legend of Elle Dorado, a 5.7% Comet Hop Hazy IPA.

Boulevard’s Kansas City home also remains an important destination for beer fans. The brewery’s Tours & Rec Center and Beer Hall provide visitors with opportunities to experience Boulevard beers, brewery tours, tastings, events and the company’s Kansas City brewing heritage. The brewery is also continuing to invest in its visitor experience with the new Boulevard Yard outdoor space planned for 2026.

The arrival of BLVD Light demonstrates another side of Boulevard Brewing Company: its ability to maintain a broad beer portfolio that includes both adventurous craft releases and highly approachable light beer. With its new name, bold new packaging, 4% ABV and 89-calorie profile, Boulevard BLVD Light looks positioned to give the brewery’s light-beer lineup a fresh new identity.
