Avery Brewing Avery Pils German-Style Pilsner Coming Soon

Today I have a first look at a new canned lager coming from Avery Brewing in Boulder, Colorado, and this one takes the brewery in a crisp, traditional direction. Avery Pils is a new German-style pilsner that will arrive at a sessionable 5.0% ABV in 12-ounce cans.

The newly revealed Avery Pils label immediately establishes the beer’s personality with three words: “Refined. Balanced. Traditional.” That positioning makes it clear that Avery Brewing is leaning into the classic characteristics expected from a German-style pilsner rather than presenting Avery Pils as another hop-heavy modern American IPA.

At 5.0% ABV, Avery Pils lands in a very approachable range for a pilsner-style lager. The 12-ounce can format should also make the new Avery beer a convenient option for everything from backyard gatherings and outdoor activities to casual weeknight drinking. For fans of crisp, clean and traditionally inspired lagers, this could be an especially interesting addition to the Avery Brewing lineup.

The artwork reinforces the traditional Colorado-meets-outdoors identity that Avery has used across much of its packaging. A mountain range rises behind an autumn-colored river scene, complete with a fly fisherman surrounded by trees. It is an especially fitting visual for a beer that appears designed to be enjoyed as a refreshing, easy-drinking lager.

While the label confirms the 5.0% ABV, German-style pilsner designation and 12-ounce can format, Avery Brewing has not yet provided complete release information or tasting notes for Avery Pils. That means the biggest questions remain: when will Avery Pils hit stores, where will it be distributed and what specific malt and hop character will show up in the glass?

The arrival of Avery Pils is also interesting because Avery Brewing has been unveiling a diverse collection of new beers during 2026. Recent releases and upcoming projects have included High Country Light, a 4% ABV lighter beer, and Head Over Haze, a 9% ABV Imperial Hazy IPA.

That makes Avery Pils another example of the Boulder brewery expanding across beer styles and alcohol levels while maintaining its long-standing focus on brewing quality. Avery’s current brewing operation encompasses everything from year-round beers and rotating releases to highly experimental barrel-aged creations.

Avery Brewing Company is a respected Boulder, Colorado craft brewery with a history dating back to 1993.
