DuClaw, River Horse, and 1947 Moving to a Mid-Atlantic Brewery In 2027

An Announcement From Our Brands – 

We would like to express our appreciation for the support of our Lambertville community, our Ewing community, and all craft beer drinkers alike. It’s been an honor to be one of New Jersey’s largest craft breweries and to produce a beer that became a staple for so many over the years.

Beginning in January 2027, we’ll be moving the production of DuClaw, River Horse and 1947 to a Mid-Atlantic brewery. Details are being finalized. The driving factor was our lease. Our current one expires at the end of the year, and the renewal was cost prohibitive. We’ll continue to distribute to all your local retailers and bars.

Until such time, it’s business as usual. The Tasting Room and Events will be open until Thanksgiving. Please come by and share another beer with us!

This is not a merger or acquisition by either party. We’ll be sharing the production facility via an Alternating Proprietorship Agreement.

DuClaw Brewing Company began in Maryland and quickly established itself as one of the region’s most recognizable craft breweries. The brewery gained national attention through its creative approach to brewing, producing everything from hop-driven IPAs and Belgian-inspired ales to decadent pastry stouts and experimental barrel-aged releases. Signature beers such as Sweet Baby Jesus! Peanut Butter Porter helped introduce thousands of consumers to flavored craft beer while demonstrating DuClaw’s willingness to push brewing boundaries. Today, DuClaw continues to produce an extensive lineup of innovative beers that appeal to both longtime craft beer enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The 1947 brand complements the portfolio with approachable beers designed to celebrate heritage, craftsmanship, and classic brewing traditions while offering dependable quality and broad appeal. Beginning in January 2027, production of DuClaw, River Horse, and 1947 will transition from the current Ewing, New Jersey facility to another Mid-Atlantic brewery under an Alternating Proprietorship Agreement. The move is the result of an expiring lease and rising renewal costs rather than a merger or acquisition. Although brewing operations will relocate, all three brands will continue distributing beer to retailers, bars, and restaurants throughout their existing markets, ensuring fans can continue enjoying their favorite beers for years to come.
