This morning brings an exciting update for fans of classic American pale ales as Sly Fox Brewing Company in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania prepares to reintroduce one of its early‑2000s staples: Phoenix Pale Ale. This returning favorite helped define Sly Fox’s identity during the rise of East Coast craft beer, and its comeback arrives with refreshed packaging and renewed energy for longtime drinkers and new fans alike.

Phoenix Pale Ale will continue to embrace everything that made it a standout in the first place, a bright, balanced, hop‑forward pale ale built around approachable bitterness and clean malt character. The beer remains firmly in the sessionable zone at 5.6% ABV, offering enough flavor to satisfy hop lovers while staying smooth, crisp, and endlessly drinkable. It’s the kind of pale ale that fits perfectly into warm‑weather lineups, mixed craft beer packs, and everyday fridge rotation.

For this revival, Sly Fox is rolling out updated 16‑oz cans, giving Phoenix Pale Ale a modern look while preserving the nostalgic appeal of the original release. The refreshed design ties neatly into the brewery’s current visual identity, making it instantly recognizable on shelves and in taprooms across Pennsylvania and beyond.

As Sly Fox continues to revisit and elevate its foundational beers, Phoenix Pale Ale stands out as a welcome return, an iconic pale ale with roots in the early craft movement and a flavor profile that still resonates today. Expect a blend of citrusy hop aroma, subtle pine, and a clean malt backbone that keeps each sip balanced and refreshing.

Stay tuned for official release timing, distribution updates, and any additional details as Sly Fox Brewing prepares to bring Phoenix Pale Ale back into the spotlight.

Sly Fox Brewing is a Pennsylvania-based, family-owned craft brewery founded in 1995 that is considered a pioneer of the craft beer movement in the Mid-Atlantic. The company is known for its wide selection of award-winning beers, innovative canning practices, and community events.

History and innovation
Family roots: Sly Fox
was started by the Giannopoulos family as a brewpub in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The family-run business has since grown significantly, with Pete Giannopoulos’ son, Peter, taking over as president in 2021.
Pioneer of canned craft beer: In 2006, Sly Fox
became the first craft brewery in the Mid-Atlantic to install a canning line. The following year, its Pikeland Pils was the first canned craft beer to win a medal at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival.
360 can end: The brewery also led the way in 2013 by becoming the first in North America to use the innovative 360-degree can end, where the entire lid can be removed.
Expansion: After outgrowing its original facilities, Sly Fox
moved its main brewing operations to a larger production facility and tasting room in Pottstown, PA, in 2012.

Locations
Sly Fox operates several locations in Pennsylvania:
Pottstown (Brewery & Tasting Room): This 30,000-square-foot facility is home to the main production brewery. It features a tasting room and a dog-friendly outdoor patio with a fireplace. It also has a nine-hole disc golf course on-site.
Phoenixville (Brewhouse & Eatery): One of the oldest brewpubs in the Delaware Valley, the Phoenixville location offers food and beer for both dine-in and takeout.
Wyomissing (Taphouse): Opened in 2019, this taphouse offers Sly Fox beers as well as food and outdoor seating.
Pittsburgh (Pub & Brewery): In 2022, Sly Fox opened its first satellite brewpub in western Pennsylvania. This location brews smaller, experimental batches while also serving the company’s core beers.

Popular beers
Sly Fox brews a wide variety of beers, with popular options including:
Helles Golden Lager: A German-style golden lager.
Pikeland Pils: An award-winning German-style pilsner.
Haze Fix IPA: An easy-drinking hazy IPA with notes of candied orange.
Rt. 113 IPA: A complex, aromatic IPA.
Seasonal and special releases: The brewery offers a lineup of seasonal beers such as Oktoberfest and Christmas Ale, as well as occasional special releases like Alex’s Raspberry Lemon Ale, which supports the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Events
Sly Fox is known for its creative community events, most notably the annual Bock Festival and Goat Race. This event, considered one of the best beer events in the Philadelphia area, features a traditional German-style maibock, food, and the eponymous goat race.
