Double Mountain Introduces Fuggle Around Maibock

Classic Maibock with Old-World Roots and PNW Character

& Cidery announces the release of Fuggle Around, a Maibock lager clocking in at 7% ABV and packaged in 500mL refillable bottles.


Brewed with Bavarian Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts from Montana Craft Malt, Fuggle Around Maibock is a malt-forward lager built with intention and restraint. Tettnanger hops anchor the kettle, while a generous addition of whole-leaf Fuggle hops from Goschie Farms was added to the hop back, lending an earthen, floral lift to the beer’s rich malt foundation.


Golden in color with brilliant clarity, Fuggle Around offers aromas of fresh country loaf, soft herbal spice, and gentle floral earthiness. The mouthfeel is smooth and medium-full, balancing bready malt depth with firm but measured bitterness, finishing crisp, dry, and clean.


“This beer started as a way to showcase ingredients and people we really believe in,” says Matt Coughlin, lead brewer. “Montana Craft Malt is doing exceptional work… they are woman-owned, sustainably focused, and deeply respectful of traditional malting practices. Pairing their malt with Goschie’s Fuggle hops felt like the right way to make a beer that’s grounded, expressive, and a little bit playful.”


What’s a Maibock you ask? The style originates from Northern Germany and dates back to the 14th century. It was made in late fall or early winter, and enjoyed as a part of the celebration of spring and the end of the lenten season. Of the bock family, this one tends to be a little lighter in color, stronger, and more aggressive in the bitterness. Just the way we like it. It is pronounced in two ways, and both are acceptable – my-bock or may-bock.

We abducted the last bit of Fuggle hops from Goschie farms and teamed up with Montana Craft Malt to bring you a malt forward lager with some weight and swagger, shepherding aromas of fresh country loaf and an earthen, crisp, and floral finish. 

Fuggle Around Maibock is available on draft and in 500ml refillable bottles at all Double Mountain locations.
