Fat Head’s Brewery Recognized as ‘Brewery of the Year’ at 2025 Great American Beer Festival
Brewery Also Brings Home 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze from Annual Competition in Denver
MIDDLEBURG HTS., Ohio, October 14, 2025 – Fat Head’s Brewery achieved another prestigious honor at this year’s recently concluded Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Ohio’s most-awarded brewery brought home its first ‘Brewery of the Year’ award, topping the competition in the 15,001-100,000 barrels category. Presented by the Brewers Association, the GABF is America’s pre-eminent gathering of brewers from across the country. This year’s festival saw 1,555 breweries send 8,315 entries across 106 categories.
The brewery won 5 medals across a broad range of beer styles, securing enough points to put it top of the table among America’s largest craft breweries. Battle Axe and Goggle Fogger earned Gold Medals, for the Strong Porter and South German-style Hefeweizen categories, respectively. For Goggle Fogger, the win marks its third gold medal in the last 6 GABF competitions and pairs with its Gold Awards at the 2022 and 2024 World Beer Cups to give it 5 top awards since 2020.
Bone Head Double Hoppy Red Ale, one of the breweries most awarded brews, tallied a Silver, while the legendary Imperial IPA Hop Juju and newcomer Excursion Journeyman Sour NonAlcoholic each won bronze medals. The recognition for Journeyman is probably the most surprising result, as its Fat Head’s first foray into the non-alcoholic space, previewing the rollout of a new range of NA beers from the brewery in 2026.
‘Everyone is completely blown away by this year’s results and the Brewery of the Year Award,’ said Co-Founder and Brewmaster Matt Cole. ‘We take an immense amount of pride in the quality of our beers and the diversity of our portfolio. These recognitions are a testament to the amazing team dedicated to putting out great beer day-in and day-out for passionate fans.’
‘The Great American Beer Festival competition is the ultimate proving ground, recognizing the absolute best in innovation and craftsmanship from brewers all over the country. Earning a medal here, whether it’s gold, silver, or bronze, is an incredible, career-defining achievement that signifies a brew’s excellence against the most rigorous standards in the industry,” remarked Chris Williams, competition director for the Brewers Association. “The Brewers Association proudly celebrates the accomplishments of every single medal winner.’
