Chip the Beer Guy Rock 107 – Garrett Oliver Brooklyn Brewing

Yes this is a delayed post.  For the Friday live “Chip” show I was busy removing 2-feet of snow from my driveway, and the podcast only arrived today so here we are.  This week’s show featured Garrett Oliver, brewmaster for Brooklyn Brewing.  For beer lovers out there, Garrett is no stranger as he does many beer dinners and appearances in the greater New York/PA area.  Garrett is also a lot of fun to talk to and today was no exception.  Turns out Garrett wanted to be a film maker at some point and he equated the creativity involved in that venture with brewing beer.  Both involve technical aspects that are necessary, but worthless without creativity.

The guys tasted Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale 55, Hopfen-Weisse (brewed with Schneider brewing in Germany) and Brooklyn Lager (the beer of the week).  The guys tasted the Brooklyn version of the Hopfen-Weiss and there is a Schneider version that is slightly different and sold only in Germany.  Once again we hear a great story of the new brewing world interacting with the classic old-brewing world to come up with a great new beer.  As always Garrett was a knowledgeable and entertaining beer guest on the show.  Cheers to Garrett and everyone on the show for another fun show.
