Upcoming events: Analog-A-Go-Go
It’s a cask-beer fest, a craft fair and a vinyl pow-wow rolled into one weekend – it’s the second annual Analog-A-Go-Go!
On June 22-23, record shops including Other Music and Rainbow Records and several vinyl collectors will be at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Del., to sell, swap and barter as everyone sips some tasty cask beers. There will be barbeque from Bethany Blues, as well as some other culinary delights from nearby cafés.
And let’s not forget the eclectic collection of artisans — Grain Surfboards from York Beach, Maine, Sid Vintage clothing from Northampton, Mass., and Heidi Lowe and her handcrafted jewelry from Rehoboth Beach.
New off-centered ale: Urkontinent
Our newest beer is a social collaboration of worldwide proportions.
The seed for Urkontinent was planted when Dogfish asked beer-loving tech types around the world to suggest ingredients for a new off-centered ale. More than 100 ideas poured in, and a small team from the brewery (and a few of our beer-loving tech friends) narrowed the list to five:
Wattleseed from Australia
Toasted amaranth from South America
Rooibos tea from Africa
Myrica gale from Europe
Honey from the United States
The careful combination of ingredients gives this 8.1% ABV Belgian dubbel notes of coffee and chocolate-covered cherries.
"It’s a complex beer that starts with a ton of mouthfeel, some molasses and roasty notes," says Sam Calagione, "then ends clean and dry."

On deck
Tweason’ale: Our gluten-free beer is back! With Tweason’ale, we replaced the classic barley foundation of beer with a mild sorghum base. The hints of molasses and pit-fruit are balanced by vibrant strawberry notes and a unique complexity that comes with the addition of a malty buckwheat honey. 6% ABV
Namaste: A witbier bursting with good karma. Made with dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander, this Belgian-style white beer is a great thirst quencher. 5% ABV
Ta Henket: For this ambitious liquid time capsule, we used ingredients and traditions plucked from Egyptian hieroglyphics. Ta Henket is brewed with an ancient form of wheat and loaves of hearth-baked bread, and it’s flavored with chamomile, doum-palm fruit and Middle Eastern herbs. 4.5% ABV
Ask Dogfish: Where’s Theobroma?
Dogfish fans Kenneth and Scott both reached out recently to ask why Theobroma hasn’t hit taps and shelves yet. Good question! It was on "Thee Schedule" for April, after all. Here’s the deal:
As Theobroma fans know, this Ancient Ale is made with a boatload of chocolate from our friends at Askinosie in Springfield, Mo. We asked for so much this time around that it took a little longer to get it all to us.
So, never fear. Theobroma will be here … just a little later than planned. Watch for it in June!
