Pilsner Lager Midnight

Pils is the latest in our Lone Pelican series of specialty draft-only beers.  Marrying the traditional Schwarzbier style of black lager with the hoppy aromatic character of a traditional pilsner, it features a well-rounded malt character with cocoa, caramel and browned bread highlights coupled with floral, spicy hop character.   The cool, lengthy lager fermentation gives Midnight Pils a smooth character and a clean mellow finish.  Flavorful, mildly roasty and aromatically hoppy,Midnight Pils takes you to the dark side of refreshment!

Brewed in the tradition of the delicious and quaffable stouts of Ireland, this beer leads with a smooth roast character that ends in a slightly tangy chocolate finish. Unlike typical stouts that feature roasted barley as the prime suspect, this stout accuses Midnight Wheat malt for imparting a softer roast character that doesn’t linger harsh or bitter on the palate. Its main accomplices are Black Prinz roasted malt and a touch of acidulated malt to provide a creamy tanginess that makes it hard to blame the almost criminal smoothness of this beer on any one ingredient at large. Hops play second fiddle in this drama; doing little but provide the bitterness necessary to balance the dark malt character. One sip and we’re sure you’ll want one for each hand. Sláinte!

The Governor – releasing March 22

The Governor was conceived and brewed to honor past Oregon governor Tom McCall.  During his time as governor in the late sixties and early seventies, McCall played an instrumental role in the passing of the Oregon Beach Bill which protected Oregon’s beaches and dedicated them to public access forever.  Raise a toast to Governor Tom McCall for his farsighted actions that have preserved everyone’s ability to enjoy the entire wild and beautiful Oregon Coast. 

The Governor is a strong golden lager brewed in the Maibock style.  With a generous malt bill providing body and depth, and Oregon-grown Sterling hops giving a subtle floral hop character, The Governor finishes both bold and balanced.
