Zicke zacke zicke zacke Oi Oi Oi! It’s that time of year again, when we throw on our best lederhosen, act like a chicken, and drink some beer.
We’re celebrating Oktoberfest (and Literacy Month) once again with our friends at Room to Read with the third annual ‘Booktoberfest’ on Thursday, October 1 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Join the local DFW chapter of Room to Read and Lakewood Brewing Co. for this charitable event being held in the Taproom and Beer Garden here at LBC. Special brews will be available, including this year’s debut of The Witch, our VERY limited seasonal spin on our popular Temptress Imperial Milk Stout. We take a couple barrels of our Bourbon Barrel Temptress and add spices, coffee, and vanilla for a truly wicked treat.
Tours of the brewery will be offered, our friends at KB’s Brats and Rockstar Bakeshop will be on hand with German-inspired grub for purchase, live music provided by Dan Quinn Band performing on stage in the beer garden, plus a silent auction and raffle, games, toasts, and plenty of beer.
Proceeds from the event will help promote literacy with local children through Read-a-thon school programs in Dallas-Ft. Worth, as well as provide much needed books for children in Asia and Africa. Pre-sale tickets are only $20 if purchased in advance or $28 at the door. $10 designated driver tickets are also available. Service fees applicable. Admission includes TWO (2) beers of your choice, plus a limited edition, commemorative Booktoberfest mug for you to raise with pride. Additional beers can be purchased throughout the evening. That’s right, boys and ghouls, it’s time once again to get down with your bad selves and weird it up with us for Halloween! Whether pre-partying during the day or haunting the brewery all night, we got you covered.
Festivities kick off at 12:00 noon (10/31) and go ’til 9pm. We’ll be tapping some special releases right when the doors open, including Punkel, The Witch (barrel-aged Temptress w/ coffee, spices, and vanilla), Barrel-aged Holiday Bonus, Druon’s Reserve, a sneak peek at Wild Manimal (dry-hopped Farmhouse Red w/ Brett), plus some new experiments our mad scientists have been brewing up. Some of these beers won’t last long and may quickly vanish like a ghost, so get here early! We’ll also have limited, commemorative glassware you won’t want to miss (while supplies last.).
