It’s that time of year….the summer is fading and before you know it the leaves will be dropping and the snow will be falling.  And while we can’t control the weather, we can switch our beer-gears and start enjoying some great seasonal releases.

Indeed Brewing has a really unique take on fall beers, so it was nice to get a chance to sample some Indeed Brewing Yamma Jamma Harvest Ale.  As the name implies, Yamma Jamma is brewed with real sweet potato and spices and for 2016 it will use an English yeast strain.  Yamma Jamma will also use Glacier hops and the beer will be available in 12oz cans…perfect for tailgating.

Yamma Jamma pours a rich copper color and the spicy and slightly sweet aroma is really pleasant and welcoming.  For me the flavors started with a dull sweetness I attributed to the sweet potatoes and caramel malts and continued with some cinnamon and nutmeg and even some earthy flavors.  The beer is nicely balanced and I found a lot more vanilla flavors than I was expecting (in a good way).   As the beer warmed I found more of the traditional fall spices on my palate and the finish was clean and very drinkable.  All and all a really non-traditional, but really nice fall beer.

Yamma Jamma Harvest Ale is available now in 12oz cans and on draft.  The beer hits 5%-AbV and a slightly sweet 10 IBU so get out there and try it for yourself….and when you do
