Dock Street Cannery & Tasting Room Opens 4/27 w/New Cans

By "down" we mean "down the hatch" and by "it", we mean: the first batches of Jip the Blood Berliner weiss, Golden IPA and No Exit Double IPA in cans, plus new cocktails – draft and hand-crafted- and a new snack menu of light bites that will be a pretty big, delicious departure from the also delicious, wood-fired fare next door at the brewpub. Expect cheese from Cherry Grove Farms + DiBruno’s, Vegan Commissary’s spent-grain pretzels with Rye IPA vegan cheese sauce (that is actually really, reeeeally delicious), and house-made goods including pâtés and local ‘shrooms, in the form of quiches, tortas, and simply sott’olio.

The front half of the space, accessible by garage door or regular door, depending on the weather, features a repurposed wood wall (these particular lathes used to be the wall in one of our Dock Street neighbor’s homes), a zinc-topped bar that seats twelve, and additional seating around two Turkish copper drum tables.

Philadelphia based artist, expert, and soon-to-be neon museum proprietor and founder Len Davidson made our neon light, which features our slogan from back in the 80’s – "It’s all in your head."

Cans will be for sale in four-packs and cases outside of Dock Street on 50th + Baltimore Ave beginning promptly at 4pm.

JIP THE BLOOD
4.5% ABV 4 IBUs
Double Berliner Weisse with Blood Orange – Named for the South Philadelphian by the same name. This Double Berliner Weisse, fittingly brewed with blood orange puree, flows much like the man they called Jip the Blood. It starts off with a substantially quenching punch of sourness. That intense but pleasant tartness fades to a wonderfully balanced character and body with notes of citrus. This beer comes on strong but leaves you with an enduring and unforgettable finish, or so the story goes…

GOLDEN IPA
6.0% ABV 45 IBUs
We designed this golden-hued, clear IPA so that hop flavor and aroma are the primary experience. Oats and a touch of caramel malt make for a mouth coating light body balanced with medium bitterness. Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and Amarillo hops create flavors and aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, and just a hint of pine.

NO EXIT 2xIPA
8.5% ABV 75 IBUs
Double IPA – Hell may be other people, or so says Jean-Paul Sartre in his play No Exit, but this beer is heavenly. No Exit has an intense, dry, dank, earthy and citrus flavor. Generously hopped with Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Slightly sweet, plenty bitter and full of hop stickiness.
