Just about any time you put a beer in front of me that has the letters “IPA” in the name, I get excited.  When you put a beer in front of me that has the word “peach” in the name, I also get excited…but when you combine peaches with an IPA, you know I can’t wait to try it

Today we get an early taste of a new beer (and can) coming from Indeed Brewing in Minneapolis, MN in their Peach Bum IPA.  This beer uses four varieties of hops (

and a yeast strain that all combine to pump up the peach flavors in the beer.  If that’s not enough, Indeed also added in more peach to give this IPA “extra juice.”  This beer began life in the Derailed Series in 2016 and now it’s taking on a new summer role.  So how does it taste?

Peach Bum IPA launches with loads of fresh stone fruit, citrus and berry aromas but the peach and apricot aromas definitely lead the way.  I couldn’t help but pause to enjoy the aroma a bit more before tasting.  This beer has “peach” written all over the nose and that same declaration follows in the flavors.  I found a bit of tropical fruit and loads of juicy peach and apricot flavors up front.  There’s a nice pop of hops at the end and a really refreshing and clean finish.  Peach Bum IPA is light bodied and really drinkable for it’s surprising 6.2%-AbV and big-time hoppy 70 IBU.  The tartness of the citrus flavors and the sweet peach flavors balance nicely and as it warmed a bit, the 70 IBU hoppiness really asserted itself.  All in all a really nice beer and one I can’t wait to enjoy on the beach.
