Goose Island Releasing Fulton & Wood Series Le Gardien 9/14

The third Fulton & Wood launch of 2017 has arrived. The amazing space of The Joinery, will play host to the launch of Le Gardien – is a Bière de Garde or a strong pale ale, enhanced with the essence of pear.

The Fulton and Wood Series, is a program here at Goose Island that allows everyday people from around the brewery to get into teams and come up with a beer that they are passionate about.The Bière de Garde style is a strong pale ale or “keeping beer” traditionally brewed in French farmhouses during the winter and spring. Storing the beer helped to avoid unpredictable fermentation with the yeast during summertime. Le Gardien, French for “the keeper,” is our take on a Bière de Garde that also ties back to a team member who “kept” a pear tree in his northwestern Chicago backyard throughout his youth. Le Gardien is an ale with slightly sweet, yet balanced maltinessand a subtle hint of pear, making it the perfect late summer sipper.
