About Brothers Wright Distillery:
Brothers Wright Distilling Co. is a craft, family-owned distillery based in Eastern Kentucky, best known for its unique method of aging bourbon in century-old underground coal mines. Founded in 2021 by brothers Shannon and Kendall Wright, the company recently expanded its operations by acquiring the Dueling Barrels Brewery & Distillery in downtown Pikeville.
Distillery Operations
The company operates across two primary sites in Pike County:
Pikeville (Main Hub): A 30,000-square-foot facility at 745 Hambley Blvd that serves as the central production center for spirits and beer. It features a restaurant, tasting room, and a gift shop.
Aflex (Aging Site): A 1,200-acre property where bourbon is aged in a rehabilitated coal mine that originally operated from 1913 to 1946. This site is being developed into a $38 million destination that will eventually include a museum, lodging, and an “underground visitor experience”.
Core Products
Their spirits are categorized by their signature coal mine aging process, which uses “heat cycling” to manage environmental conditions underground.
Brothers Wright Reserve: A premium four-grain blend of wheated and rye bourbons (typically 5–6 years old).
Single Barrel Offerings: Includes Wheated Bourbon, High Rye Bourbon, and Barrel Proof Bourbon.
Moonshine: Production for their moonshine line is being relocated to the Aflex site.
