Hell In a Bucket Brewery Announces Permanent Closure 11/30 – After Founder’s Death
Today I have some sad closure news coming out of Hell In a Bucket Brewery in Marietta, Pennsylvania:
After the death of our founder and partner earlier this year, we have made the very difficult decision to close Hell in a Bucket Brewing Company. Owning and running a brewery and restaurant has been the ride of a lifetime. Thanks for being a part of it with us.
Jeff and Sarah will continue to keep the bar open on a very limited basis to continue (Saturdays and Sundays only) to sell the remaining beer and merch that we still have in stock. Come see us, raise a glass to Matt, raise a glass to the Bucket, reminisce, and take home a few 4 packs.
What a long, strange trip it’s been…indeed.

About Hell In a Bucket Brewery:
Hell in a Bucket Brewing
was a craft brewery located in Marietta, Pennsylvania, that recently made the difficult decision to close permanently after the death of its founder, Matt Zornig, in early 2025.
Overview
Location: 392 E Front St, Marietta, PA, and previously at a smaller location in Wrightsville, PA.
Atmosphere: Known for its cozy, laid-back vibe with a significant Grateful Dead influence in its decor and music.
Offerings: The brewery offered a variety of in-house craft beers, including IPAs, stouts (like “Dark Star Stout”), and tripels, as well as a full bar with Pennsylvania-made wines and spirits. They were also known for having many gluten-sensitive options and a zero-proof menu.
Food: In their Marietta location, they offered “elevated” bar food made from scratch using local ingredients, including pizza, burgers, and tacos.
Community: The brewery was a community hub, hosting regular live music and open mic nights.
Closure Details
Following the passing of co-founder Matthew Zornig, the remaining partners, Jeff and Sarah, decided to close the business. The bar was kept open on a very limited basis (Saturdays and Sundays only) for a short period to sell off remaining beer and merchandise.
The owners expressed their gratitude to the community for being a part of the “ride of a lifetime”.

Owning and running a brewery and restaurant has been the ride of a lifetime and we are deeply grateful for all we’ve learned and all the people (and dogs) we’ve met along the way
Jeff and Sarah will keep the bar open on a very limited basis through the next month to continue selling the remaining beer and merch that we still have in stock. Come see us, raise a glass to Matt, raise a glass to the Bucket, reminisce, maybe shed some tears, and take home a few 4 packs.
What a long, strange trip it’s been, indeed.
