Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Cocktail Cadre

I get an opportunity to try out all sorts of new things, and while most of those things are beer, today I have something new. With the addition of the Spirits #hashtag on mybeerbuzz, I’ve always covered lots of great spirits-related news and sampled some interesting spirits, but today I bring you a cocktail-related line of clothing, accessories and more.

The company is called Cocktail Cadre and they just released a new line of clothing, posters and accessories. The story goes something like this:

In 1974, an engineer working for the US Forest Service designed what became known as the Cocktail Constructure Chart. The chart used engineering-style drawings to illustrate making popular cocktails of the time, including the Old Fashioned, The Manhattan, The Martini, and many more.
Because the engineer was working for the US government, the chart became part of the National Archives, where Cocktail Cadre rediscovered it years later.

A few others have tried to use this artwork in the past, but the quality of their efforts was pretty sub-standard. So, Cocktail Cadre hired award-winning illustrator Bill Green to redesign the original artwork line by line and then rework some of the cocktails into t-shirts and other items.

Cocktail Cadre has released new shirts with The Old Fashioned and The Highball cocktails just in time for the holidays.

I was lucky enough to try the Old Fashioned Chart hoodie, and as you can see by the photo, the artwork is is both retro and modern, making for a really nice looking shirt…and while I’m not sure I’d use instructions on the shirt to make an actual Old Fashioned cocktail, the blueprint of what goes into making a great drink, is fun and interesting (and of course a real conversation starter).

I was also pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hoodie from Cocktail Cadre. The shirt uses 70% cotton and 30% recycled polyester and it felt soft, warm and broken in the first time I put it on. I should also mention that a donation is made to environmental non-profits for every sale of this shirt. As an added bonus, everyone of my friends that has seen the hoodie has asked about the drawing and where to get a Cocktail Cadre shirt for themselves.
