Curated. Authenticated. Certified.

Gibson Certified Vintage features rare, highly collectible vintage instruments authenticated by the brand that made them.

NASHVILLE, TN. Gibson – the iconic American-made and leading instrument brand—has a legacy of making world-class instruments since 1894 when Orville Gibson was crafting archtop mandolins. As a natural extension of Gibson’s passion for its unique instruments and the stories they tell, the history-making Gibson Certified Vintage program offers collectible vintage guitars authenticated and certified directly by Gibson, with a new limited lifetime warranty and a certificate of vintage authenticity. All Gibson Certified Vintage guitars are sold via the Gibson Garage in Nashville, TN, call (615) 933-6000https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Certified-Vintage.

Today, the Gibson Certified Vintage program premieres the next collection of guitars: a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Standard, 1957 Gibson ES-225TD, 1958 Gibson Les Paul TV Junior, 1964 Gibson SG Special, and a 1966 Epiphone Century E422T.

“P-90s have been the sound of Gibson electric guitars for the better part of a century, and this release is a small celebration of that,” says Mitch Conrad, Gibson Certified Vintage Manager. “I’m particularly fond of the 1957 Gibson ES-225TD; it’s this great combination of the specs of an ES-295 in the thinline package of an ES-330. Don’t be fooled by how clean these guitars are—they’re a joy to play, and they sound fantastic.”

A world first, the Gibson Certified Vintage collection offers collectors an incredible opportunity to own extraordinary instruments, sourced and authenticated by Gibson. Gibson Certified Vintage guitars feature one-of-a-kind Golden Era blue-chip guitars, unique, one-of-a-kind prototypes, celebrity-owned guitars, as well as 70s and 80s models directly from the Gibson Vault. In an industry first, all Gibson Certified Vintage guitars are sold with a brand new limited lifetime warranty. All guitars arrive with a detailed letter of appraisal confirming the provenance and history of the instrument, a certificate of authenticity signed by Gibson’s Certified Vintage Manager, Mitch Conrad, and an array of unique extras.

GIBSON CERTIFIED VINTAGE:

1956 GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD

SERIAL # 80085510

1956 Gibson Les Paul Standard

By 1956, the Les Paul™ had become a flagship instrument, evolving from its 1952 origins while retaining its Goldtop finish, solid mahogany body, maple cap, and duo of powerful P-90 pickups. 1956 was the only full year in which the Les Paul model featured the P-90s and the adjustable ABR-1 bridge setup, a combination that allowed the Les Paul model to intonate, sustain, and thrill like never before.

This 1956 Gibson Les Paul Standard remains a stunning example of a mid-50s Les Paul, featuring minimal checking, light nicks and dings, and a dark, chocolatey Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The original narrow/tall frets are in very good condition. Vintage-correct repairs and replacements have been performed for structural integrity while maintaining authenticity. The original ABR-1 bridge is sunken and is included in the case, with a Custom Shop Historic ABR-1 installed for improved playability. The bridge was leaning slightly, so Glaser Instruments doweled, redrilled, and installed slightly longer bridge posts to ensure no future lean. The original jack plate was broken and has been replaced with a Custom Shop Historic reissue. The G tuner is bent, and the original switch nut, which was bent, has been replaced with a vintage NOS replacement. The hole for the pickup switch is slightly enlarged from wood chipping away, but this is stable and is covered by the switch washer.

Ships in its original Lifton™ brown and pink Cali Girl case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.

1957 GIBSON ES-225TD

Serial # U2243 1

1955 Gibson ES-225TD

Introduced in 1955, the Gibson ES-225TD was one of Gibson’s earliest thinline hollowbody electrics, bridging the gap between traditional archtops and the semi-hollow designs that would follow. Featuring a full hollow body, dual P-90 pickups, and a Wraparound Trapeze tailpiece, the ES-225TD was designed to offer increased resonance and sustain while remaining lightweight and comfortable to play.

This 1957 Gibson ES-225TD remains in very clean, very cool original condition. There is light finish checking throughout, with a few dings and dents on the back of the neck, including a larger half-diamond-shaped chip in the finish near the 10th fret. These guitars often had a push-in plastic strap button in the butt, so this one was filled, redrilled and replaced with a vintage 50s-style button. A second strap button was also added to the heel. The instrument retains its original P-90 pickups, Kluson Deluxe tuners, and gold Top Hat knobs, and delivers all the warm, dynamic tones that have made the ES-225TD a favorite among jazz, blues, and early rock players.

Ships in a non-original vintage black and gold case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.

1958 GIBSON LES PAUL TV JUNIOR

Serial # 8 4100

1958 Gibson Les Paul™ Junior

The Les Paul™ Junior was released in 1954 as an option for student players seeking Les Paul quality and heritage in a more affordable instrument. In 1955, one year after the Les Paul Junior was introduced, Gibson debuted the Les Paul TV, identical to the Junior aside from what would become its iconic finish. Though originally intended as a student instrument, it soon became a favorite among advanced players as well for its no-frills approach and pure, unfiltered tone.

This very rare, single-cut 1958 Gibson Les Paul TV Junior remains in all-original condition, showing moderate lacquer checking, play wear, and nicks throughout. There is one larger dent on the front of the guitar between the tone knob and the strap button, as well as two small dents that have been touched up. The guitar has undergone an expert plane and re-fret with medium jumbo fretwire by Gibson Repair & Restoration, ensuring excellent playability. It retains its original P-90 pickup, Kluson® Deluxe tuners, and Wraparound tailpiece, delivering all the raw, punchy tone that has made the Junior legendary.

Ships in a new Lifton™ Historic “Gator Skin” hardshell case, with the original chipboard case included separately. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.

1964 GIBSON SG SPECIAL

Serial # 220183

Gibson SG™ Special

The Gibson SG™ Special offered dual P-90 pickups and refined aesthetics while introducing the lightweight, double-cutaway mahogany body that made the SG series a favorite among players. By 1964, it had become a go-to instrument for rock and blues guitarists, prized for its raw, articulate tone and fast-playing neck.

This 1964 Gibson SG Special remains a beautiful example of the model, with a full, rich cherry color that has maintained its depth over the decades. The guitar is in very clean original condition, with light nicks and dings throughout. The most notable wear is on the edge near the rear control cavity, though it does not affect playability. It retains its original P-90 pickups, Kluson® Deluxe tuners, and Lightning Bar Wraparound bridge, delivering the dynamic, punchy sound that has defined the SG Special for decades.

Ships in its original black Lifton™ case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.

1966 EPIPHONE CENTURY E422T

Serial #823508

1966 Epiphone Century E422T

Upon its introduction in the 1950s, the Epiphone Century quickly became a favorite among blues and jazz musicians for its warm, resonant hollowbody tone and simple yet elegant design. By 1966, the Century had been refined with a single P-90 pickup, a fully hollow maple/poplar/maple body, and a 25.5” scale length, making it a standout option for players looking for a versatile, lightweight instrument with exceptional acoustic and electric capabilities.

This 1966 Epiphone Century E422T remains in very good original condition, with mild checking throughout and a light patina on all hardware and components. A strap button has been added to the heel for improved functionality. This guitar is notable for its historical significance, as it was used as a reference instrument in the development of the Epiphone James Bay 1966 Century reissue. Whether played acoustically or plugged in, it delivers all the rich, articulate tone that defines this model.

Ships in an aftermarket Epiphone hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.
