Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo and Dual Torpedo

Today, we have your first look at two exciting additions to the Torpedo lineup from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. of Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina. The legendary craft brewery is expanding its Torpedo family with Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo, a new resinous double IPA, while also showcasing the latest packaging for its Dual Torpedo double IPA.

Sierra nevada Voyager Torpedo is an exciting new release for fans of bold, hop-forward craft beer. Arriving in 12-ounce cans, this new double IPA is designed to deliver a resinous character and an assertive hop profile, with an alcohol content of 8.0% ABV. The Voyager Torpedo name builds on Sierra Nevada’s established Torpedo identity, which is synonymous with intense hop flavor and aroma.

The new Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo packaging features a striking deep green background, vibrant golden-yellow lettering and the distinctive Sierra Nevada branding. Its ornate, decorative design prominently showcases the Torpedo name, while the Double IPA designation makes its style immediately recognizable. The packaging also identifies Sierra Nevada’s Chico and Mills River brewing locations.

Alongside Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo, Sierra Nevada is revealing updated packaging for Dual Torpedo. This double dry-hopped double IPA maintains its 8.2% ABV and will also be available in 12-ounce cans. The refreshed design features a vivid blue color scheme, contrasting turquoise lettering and the familiar Torpedo artwork, giving Dual Torpedo a distinctive appearance while retaining the established branding.

Both beers demonstrate Sierra Nevada’s continued commitment to hop-forward brewing and its recognizable Torpedo family. With Voyager Torpedo bringing a resinous double IPA to the lineup and Dual Torpedo delivering a double dry-hopped alternative, the two releases offer distinct approaches to the double IPA style.

The two beers also bring different hop-focused identities to the Torpedo range. Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo is described as resinous, while Dual Torpedo emphasizes its double dry-hopping process. Although both beers share the double IPA designation, their distinct brewing descriptions and updated packaging give each release its own identity.

At this time, official tasting notes, hop varieties, bitterness levels, pricing and specific release dates have not been announced. The newly revealed cans provide an early look at what Sierra Nevada has planned for fans of stronger, hop-forward craft beer.

Stay tuned to MyBeerBuzz for additional details, release information, availability and tasting notes as Sierra Nevada Voyager Torpedo and Dual Torpedo make their way toward retailers.

About Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is one of the most influential and recognizable independent craft breweries in the United States. Founded by Ken Grossman in Chico, California, in 1980, Sierra Nevada helped establish the modern American craft beer movement through its commitment to quality ingredients, innovative brewing techniques, bold hop character and environmental responsibility. Today, the family-owned brewery operates major brewing facilities in Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina, distributing its extensive portfolio of craft beers to consumers across the country.

Sierra Nevada first earned widespread recognition with its iconic Pale Ale, a beer that helped introduce generations of American drinkers to the distinctive flavor and aroma of American hops. Its balanced malt backbone, citrus-forward hop character and unmistakable profile helped establish a new standard for American pale ales. The brewery subsequently expanded its portfolio with influential releases, including Torpedo Extra IPA, Celebration Fresh Hop IPA, Bigfoot Barleywine and an extensive selection of seasonal and specialty beers.

The Torpedo family represents an important part of Sierra Nevada’s brewing history. Torpedo Extra IPA became well known for its assertive hop character and innovative use of the Hop Torpedo, a specialized dry-hopping system developed to deliver intense hop aroma and flavor. Over time, Sierra Nevada expanded the Torpedo range with additional interpretations, including Atomic Torpedo Imperial IPA, Dual Torpedo double dry-hopped IPA and experimental specialty releases. Voyager Torpedo continues this tradition with its resinous double IPA character and 8.0% ABV.

Sierra Nevada has also embraced changing craft beer preferences through its Little Thing series. Hazy Little Thing and Mango Little Thing demonstrate the brewery’s ability to explore hazy, fruit-forward and contemporary IPA styles while retaining its focus on brewing quality. Its seasonal beers, including Celebration Fresh Hop IPA, further demonstrate its commitment to traditional brewing techniques and distinctive hop varieties.

Innovation at Sierra Nevada extends beyond the beer itself. The brewery has invested in renewable energy, water conservation, sustainable agriculture and environmentally responsible manufacturing. Its sustainability initiatives reflect a long-term commitment to reducing environmental impacts while supporting the communities and agricultural partners that contribute to its brewing operations.

The Chico brewery remains an important destination for craft beer enthusiasts, while the Mills River facility provides additional brewing capacity and a connection to the eastern United States. Both locations contribute to Sierra Nevada’s national presence and its ability to produce a diverse selection of year-round, seasonal and limited-edition beers.

More than four decades after its founding, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. continues to influence American craft brewing through its recognizable brands, commitment to quality, hop-forward innovation and independent family ownership. From the original Pale Ale to Torpedo Extra IPA, Dual Torpedo and the new Voyager Torpedo, Sierra Nevada continues to build on its brewing legacy while introducing new experiences for craft beer fans.
