Washington craft beer fans have another intriguing collaboration to watch as Black Raven Brewing of Woodinville, Washington, prepares to release a brand-new beer with fellow Washington brewery Dru Bru. The upcoming Black Raven Over The Hills And Not So Far Away Hazy IPA combines two Pacific Northwest brewing names for a hop-forward collaboration that promises plenty of character in every 16-ounce can.

The beer is officially named Over The Hills And Not So Far Away, a playful title that fits the illustrated road-trip theme featured on the colorful can label. The label shows a classic station wagon traveling through a mountainous Washington landscape, perfectly capturing the adventurous spirit behind this new Black Raven Brewing collaboration.

According to the label, Over The Hills And Not So Far Away is a Hazy India Pale Ale brewed with Krush, Dolcita, Simcoe and Citra hops. The four-hop combination gives this new hazy IPA a particularly interesting Pacific Northwest identity, pairing newer hop varieties with established favorites that have become staples of American IPA brewing.

The beer checks in at 6.2% ABV, putting it comfortably in the sessionable-to-moderate range for a modern hazy IPA while still offering enough alcohol presence to make it feel substantial. It will be packaged in 16-ounce cans, making the new Black Raven and Dru Bru collaboration convenient for taking home, sharing with friends or enjoying as part of a weekend beer haul.

The label describes the beer with the invitation, “Hop in! No idea where the hell we’re headed…. But, I promise it’s over the hills and not so far away.” That road-trip concept is carried throughout the artwork, with the vintage wagon, mountain scenery and winding highway creating a distinctive visual identity for the collaboration.

Black Raven Brewing has developed a strong reputation for producing hop-forward beers and creative collaborations, and this new release continues that tradition. Previous Black Raven collaborations covered by MyBeerBuzz have included the Alpha Bird Cold IPA, brewed with Bale Breaker Brewing Company, along with other rotating IPA and specialty releases.

For hazy IPA fans, the combination of Krush, Dolcita, Simcoe and Citra hops makes this one worth watching closely. Those hops should give the beer plenty of aromatic and flavor potential, while the hazy IPA format provides the soft, juicy profile many craft beer drinkers seek.

Over The Hills And Not So Far Away is still awaiting its official release details, so beer hunters will want to stay tuned for information on when and where the 6.2% ABV collaboration will hit taps and shelves. When it arrives, this Black Raven Brewing and Dru Bru collaboration should be a particularly interesting addition to the Washington craft beer scene.

About Black Raven Brewing:

Black Raven Brewing has established itself as one of Washington’s distinctive independent craft breweries, building a reputation around creative beers, hop-forward styles, experimental brewing and a willingness to explore different corners of the craft beer spectrum. Based in the Seattle-area brewing community, Black Raven has developed a loyal following among drinkers who appreciate beers that combine traditional brewing foundations with modern American craft beer innovation.

The brewery’s story began in 2009, when Black Raven Brewing first took flight in Redmond, Washington. From the beginning, the brewery’s philosophy centered on brewing the beers its team wanted to drink while creating a welcoming community around those beers. That approach helped Black Raven develop an identity that extends beyond any single beer style.

Black Raven’s Woodinville location became an important part of that evolution. The brewery opened a 30-barrel, four-vessel brewhouse in Woodinville in 2019, expanding production capacity while allowing the original Redmond facility to concentrate more heavily on innovation and experimentation. That combination gives Black Raven room to produce established favorites while continuing to experiment with new recipes, ingredients and brewing techniques.

Hoppy beer has long been an important part of the Black Raven portfolio, making the brewery a natural partner for collaborations involving modern IPA styles. Black Raven has produced pale ales, West Coast IPAs, hazy IPAs, specialty sour beers, lagers, barrel-aged beers and imperial stouts, demonstrating a broad brewing range rather than relying on one signature style.

Collaboration brewing is another recurring part of the Black Raven story. The brewery has worked with other respected Washington breweries and brewing partners on beers designed to showcase different approaches to hops, fermentation and modern American beer styles. The new Over The Hills And Not So Far Away Hazy IPA, brewed with Dru Bru, continues that collaborative tradition.

For Washington craft beer enthusiasts, Black Raven Brewing remains a brewery worth following because its release calendar regularly brings new beers and limited collaborations to the market. The combination of creative brewing, hop-focused recipes, independent craft beer culture and a strong Pacific Northwest identity makes Black Raven a particularly compelling brewery to watch.

The brewery’s latest collaboration with Dru Bru adds another chapter to that story. With Krush, Dolcita, Simcoe and Citra hops, a 6.2% ABV package and an unmistakable road-trip-inspired label, Over The Hills And Not So Far Away looks ready to give Washington hazy IPA fans another beer to chase.
