A toast to the morning at night, it’s time to confuse your circadian rhythm with Cup a Joe Coffee Creme Stout! Released statewide starting Friday the 13th of December, Cup a Joe was the first official stout ever brewed at Short’s way back in March of 2005. It has been a favorite for beer and coffee aficionados alike since that very first brewing.
Taking the Coffee Stout style to the next level, Cup a Joe includes over 80 lbs of fair trade, locally-roasted espresso beans from our good friends at Higher Grounds Trading Co. in Traverse City, MI. Combining the coffee with milk sugar, all layered on top of a gorgeously roasty stout backbone, Cup a Joe has become the winter warmer to crave day and night.
Cup a Joe (7.0% ABV, 35 IBU) crams Higher Grounds espresso beans into every facet of the brewing process. Pouring a rich, deep black with a quickly-dissipating mocha head, prominent aromatics of malt, espresso, and cocoa are immediately abundant. The robust flavor profile matches the nose with big malt character fused to a creaminess in the coffee. Smooth carbonation creates a silky mouthfeel that eases into a slightly sweet finish.
