Founders Announces 2017 Availability Calendar, New Barrel-Series, 19.2oz All Day & Pale Ale / Devil Dance Retire

We promised some 2017 updates for you this week so let’s get started, shall we? We were the first in craft to offer a beer in a 15-pack can package with All Day IPA and, you all seemed to like it so much that we decided to put our entire seasonal lineup in 15-pack cans!

That’s right, beginning in 2017 (or even a bit sooner in some regions), Azacca IPA will be available in 6-pack bottles and 15-pack cans. Our summer seasonal, PC Pils and fall seasonal, Mosaic Promise will follow suit.

Azacca IPA will be available January – March; PC Pils will be available April – August; Mosaic Promise will be available September – December.

And, of course, you can continue to expect All Day IPA in 15-pack cans and 6-pack bottles as well.

When we first debuted All Day IPA in 6-pack bottles, it took off as the go-to session beer for craft fans. Crisp and light but with the full-flavor of an IPA, this beer was here to stay. Our first canning line was installed to accommodate the incredible growth of All Day IPA and, in 2013, we began offering it in a 12-pack can package. Shelves could not hold this beer and so, we thought, let’s give the people what they want: All Day IPA and more of it.

In 2014, we debuted the 15-pack All Day IPA can package, the “Brewer’s Dozen,” as we affectionately called it, being the first in the craft industry to do so and our brewery hasn’t been the same since. All Day IPA continues to take the craft world by storm: the 15-pack is the largest selling craft can package and All Day IPA is the 3rd largest selling IPA of any kind. Pretty amazing.

So, we have decided to put All Day IPA in a new package… one that’s a little taller but still lightweight….

Introducing the 19.2oz All Day IPA can!

Beginning in early 2017, 19.2oz All Day IPA cans will be available in a convenience store, ballpark or arena near you!

Capping off our week of new updates to our 2017 calendar is the biggest announcement of them all: the debut of the Barrel-Aged Series! 

Beginning in 2017, we will be launching a brand new series that celebrates our famed and highly-regarded barrel-aging program which is responsible for highly-rated heavy-hitters like KBS and Backwoods Bastard. Throughout the year, we will be releasing six different masterfully-crafted beers that have all spent the majority of their life in a bourbon barrel. You can definitely expect the return of KBS in April 2017 and Backwoods Bastard in November 2017. You can also expect four additional barrel-aged beers to come.

You’ll have to wait patiently for details on three of those remaining beers but we’re excited to announce the first in the series:

Frootwood

We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.

Frootwood will be available in some states as early as January, with remaining states seeing it by February. We plan to release it in our taproom on January 25, 2017 and will have a suggested retail price of $14.99/4-pack and $11.99/750mL bottle. That’s right, you’ll be able to find Frootwood in both 4-packs of 12oz bottles and single 750mL bottles. You asked, we listened!

In fact, the entire Barrel-Aged Series lineup will be available in 750mL bottles and 4-packs of 12oz bottles!–

For those of you who have been following along this week, you are likely well aware of the changes that will take place in 2017 but, for those that haven’t, here’s a recap:

• We’re debuting the brand-new Barrel-Aged Series which, you guessed it, will focus exclusively on barrel-aged beers. This series will include favorites like KBS and Backwoods Bastard along with four new releases. The first of these, Frootwood, will start shipping in January. Read more about that here.
• Frootwood is a cherry ale aged in barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. It will have a suggested retail price of $14.99/4-pack and $11.99/750mL bottle. In fact, the entire Barrel-Aged Series lineup will be offered in both 750mL bottles and 4-packs of 12oz bottles.
• Our entire seasonal lineup (Azacca IPA, PC Pils, Mosaic Promise) will now be available in both 6-pack bottles and 15-pack cans. We were the first in craft to launch a 15-pack of cans (All Day IPA) and knew it was time to expand it to our seasonal lineup. Details about that here.
• All Day IPA will now be offered in 19.2oz cans. Look for these in early 2017. More about that here.
• We’re saying goodbye to Pale Ale and Devil Dancer. In the spirit of constant creativity and experimentation, we occasionally have to retire certain beers in order to make room for new ones.
• Oh yeah, it’s our 20th anniversary! Get ready for an awesome year – we sure are!
