Cascade Releasing Their First Shandy: Shanderine

As we’ve been working on zesting oranges and tangerines for our Crazy Navel and Tangerine Dream projects, we had the idea of creating some sour shandy-style blends using the juice from the zested fruit, and the results have been very exciting! Introducing our first shandy-style beer offering, Shanderine, a blend of our sour wheat ale aged for 12 months in an oak wine barrel then blended with freshly squeezed tangerine juice just before packaging. Much like a classic mimosa, Shanderine features flavors of fresh citrus juice and sparkling white wine with a tart, slightly sweet finish. We’ve only created one keg of this, which will go on draft at the Barrel House this Tuesday, March 14. As we are currently juicing a lot of oranges, expect a couple more kegs of a similar project in a couple of weeks!

Next Tuesday, March 21, is the long awaited release of Kentucky Peach, as well as the top rated Noyaux (the #1 beer on RateBeer.com for Cascade). Both beers will be available on draft and in bottles at both Cascade pubs, as well as through out distribution network.
