Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Magic Hat X American Pale Ale (Review)

It’s always a ton of fun sampling the new offerings from Magic Hat Brewing, and today I was able to get my hands on a new musical collaboration beer.  The beer is simply called Magic Hat X and it a collaboration with the band X Ambassadors.

This description of the band from Magic Hat:  The X Ambassadors are an American rock band from Ithaca, New York. Their debut full length album, VHS, was released in 2015 and went on to climb to the seventh spot on the Billboard 200.

Formed in 2009, the X Ambassadors are known for making dark, passionate, electronic-based pop with soulful vocals from lead singer Sam Harris. True to their roots and love for local communities, the band returned to their hometown of Ithaca in 2017 to co-headline the Cayuga Sound Festival.The goal of this beer was to “capture the spirit” of the band in a beer and I’m excited to see if they were successful…so off we go.

Magic Hat X is an American pale ale that pours a bright golden color with loads of citrus in the nose.  This beer pours and feels a lot like a hoppy-leaning pale ale so you’ll be greeted with some well-balanced flavors of biscuity malt and lemony hops.  At 45 IBU, X really pushes the hops up from and I liked the nice mix of sticky resinous hops and how the citrusy and lemon hops cleaned it all up.  Overall the beer is really drinkable and really sessionable at 5.6%-AbV and I really liked the musical mix of lemon, passion fruit and melon flavors on board,  Magic Hat X will surprise you (in a good way) with it’s hoppy-ness and drinkability so be sure to check it out.
