Hopworks Announces Closure of Vancouver Facility
This morning I have some bad and good news coming from Hopworks Brewery in Portland, Oregon as they announce the closure of their Vancouver, Washington Pub so they can focus on their Powell Street pub in Portland:
Hopworks Brewery has announced that it will close its Vancouver, Washington, facility on Saturday, August 9. This is being done as part of a Hopworks plan to revitalize its original Powell Boulevard flagship in Portland.
The decision comes at a time of renewed focus for the family-owned brewery, which is expanding its distribution and investing in its flagship Portland location with a fresh menu and lively entertainment to maintain the same welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere it’s known for.
“Powell is the hub where Hopworks got its start, and it’s still where the brewing magic happens,” said founder Christian Ettinger. By pulling everything back to the mothership, we can devote more energy to our guests and this space, fill even more glasses with sustainably brewed beer, and continue to uphold our B Corp commitment to our people, our planet and our community.”
Guests visiting Hopworks on Powell will discover an array of new offerings, including a freshly expanded pizza menu, a new live entertainment stage featuring local musicians and performers, trivia and other in-pub events. The brewpub continues to be a go-to destination for families, with a welcoming play area, kid-friendly menu options, and a warm, welcoming dining experience rooted in the community.
Hopworks opened the Vancouver location in 2016 and expressed deep gratitude to the community for its support over the past nine years. “We are so thankful to the many Vancouver guests and team members who helped make our Washington outpost a welcoming neighborhood pub,” Ettinger said. “Vancouver has been an important part of our story, and we look forward to welcoming those guests back to our Powell brewpub. The community is also gaining a fantastic new tenant in our space. Watch for their announcement soon.”
The Vancouver community is invited to come raise a pint at Hopworks in its final days before closing, and enjoy happy hour drink pricing, food specials, and discounts on case purchases.
The closure marks another step in Hopworks’ evolution as it celebrates nearly two decades of crafting world-class beer while protecting the planet, supporting its community, and creating a welcoming space for families and neighbors to gather. More than 17 years after opening the doors at 2944 SE Powell in Portland, the brand is still growing.
