Tröegs Oktoberfest Lager Returns For 2025
As the sun sets on summer, it’s time to start thinking fall beers, so I’m excited to drop this Okto news from Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, Pennsytlvania:
HERSHEY, PA – Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the return of Oktoberfest Lager, a toasty, crisp, and festive beer for the upcoming fall season.
Interpreting this timeless German style starts with a traditional brewing technique called decoction.
“By boiling a portion of the mash, we create a bright, dry maltiness,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother, John Trogner.
A kettle addition of Hallertau Tradition hops adds subtle floral and herbal undercurrents.
Weighing in at 6.1% ABV, this toasty lager boasts notes of sweet caramel, fresh-baked bread, and flowering herbs.
To capture the celebratory spirit of the annual Oktoberfest celebration, the Hershey, PA-based brewery collaborated with German artist David Leutert, who took inspiration from the Bavarian flag and traditional beer halls known as “Festzelte.”
The beer’s release comes with excited anticipation of Tröegs’ annual Oktoberfest celebration, which will take place between September 12th and the 21st. For ten days, the independent brewery will transform its Tasting Room, patio, and Beer Garden into a festive German beer hall.
Attendees can enjoy live music, commemorative stein fills of Oktoberfest Lager, a stein-hoisting competition, traditional German food specials, and more. Tröegs will also offer an exclusive Guided Tasting Experience, which will be available to book soon through troegs.com/tours.
Oktoberfest Lager is available on draft and in 12-oz. bottles and cans everywhere Tröegs beer is sold. Beer drinkers can find this and other beers near them using the Tröegs Brew Finder.

Founded in Pennsylvania in 1997 by brothers John and Chris Trogner, Tröegs is driven by a sense of adventure and curiosity.
You might know our Perpetual IPA, the best-selling IPA in Pennsylvania. Or the dark, malty and crisp Tröegenator. Maybe you’ve tried one of the hundreds of experimental Scratch Series beers we’ve brewed. Or taken the “Best Brewery Tour in America” here at our Hershey home.
Whether you’re already a member of our extended family or you’re just getting to know Tröegs, there’s always something new to discover. Crack a Perpetual and stay awhile.
Family-owned. Independently crafted.
In the past 25 years, Tröegs has grown from two brothers to 250 people, but we’re still very much a family business. Because we stay true to our core values of independence and family ownership, we’ve kept the small-brewery DNA we all hold dear.
Perpetual exploration
Our small-batch Scratch Series and 3-barrel Scratch Lab are where we do the work needed to understand the “why” at the intersection of ingredients, technique and flavor.
Local ingredients
We live and brew in fertile central PA, and we’re proud to support our local farmers. Every year, we buy more than 225,000 pounds of local grain, honey and fruit to use in our beer.
Community
From bike rides that fund local trails to new beers that help preserve critical forests, our partnerships improve the places where we live, work and play.
