Dogfish Head Celebrating Thirty Years with Triple DECADEnce

Exciting birthday news coming out of Dogfish Head in Milton, Delaware:
2025 is a milestone year for us … it marks three decades of Dogfish Head! To celebrate 30 years of innovation, exploration and off-centered goodness, we knew we had to craft something truly extraordinary. Enter Triple Decadence World Wide Stout … a bold new take on our fan favorite stout that’s worthy of the occasion.
Triple Decadence World Wide Stout is a blend of three threads of barrel-aged World Wide Stouts – one aged in Palo Santo, another aged in Let’s Get Lost Whiskey barrels, and a third aged in Utopias Barrels. Clocking in at 15% ABV, this Imperial stout brings all the flavors you know and love from the OG recipe, combined with heftier complex wood notes and some spirit-barrel characteristics.
We believe that every beer has a story, and this one’s spans our off-centered history broken down into three decades. Our first decade of brewing was where our journey with innovation and producing non-traditional beers began, and we felt nothing embodied this better than aging beers in our one-of-a-kind Palo Santo tank. Our second decade brought about the creation of our distillery, so we’re paying homage to that by aging World Wide Stout in some of our award-winning Let’s Get Lost Whiskey barrels. The third decade is a salute to our friends at Sam Adams and their incredibly intricate and unique Utopias.
The result? A slightly smoother variation of World Wide Stout with complex wood notes from the Palo Santo and oak woods, alongside some spirit-barrel characteristics like notes of whiskey, sherry, vanilla, caramel and spice. The barrel-aging process actually helps mellow the alcohol out, so this one’s smooth right out of the gate.
The journey of Triple Decadence World Wide Stout began back in 2023, when we kicked off the aging process for the first thread of beer in our Let’s Get Lost barrels. Then, in 2024, we added some of the stout to Utopias barrels. Finally the Palo Santo-aged beer hit the barrels this past year, needing only around 45 days to age due to the sheer intensity of the wood character.
This beer’s already been aged a bit, but that’s not to say you can’t continue its journey for years to come! Because of the higher ABV of World Wide Stout, this beer is a great candidate for aging, and a little experimentation goes a long way. It’s likely that continuing to age Triple Decadence World Wide Stout will change the flavor profile over time. How will it taste in years to come? Only time will tell!
